Step 1.Warm up

T: Hello, boys and girls! Let’s have a tongue twister to relax ourselves.

“I know. You know. I know that you know. I know that you know that I know.”

Please do as I do ( gesture).

S: I know. You know. I know that you know. I know that you know that I know.

 设计意图:通过绕口令,激发学生的学习兴趣,使学生在英语课堂上都有说英语的机会与热情。

T: In the last two days , we have learned something about Confucius and Zheng He. They are the greatest men in China’s history. Can you list anyone else who you admire most?

S1: Emperor Qin Shihuang.

S2: Lin Zexu.

S3: Abraham Lincolin.

设计意图:通过列举一系列名人,引出今天要学习的名人钱学森。

Step2: Reading

The first time:

T: I think everyone of you has the hero in your heart. However, I admire Qian Xuesen most. Please follow me to learn something about him. Please scan the passage and answer the question:“What was Qian Xuesen honored as?”

S: The Father of China’s missiles.

The Second time:

T: This is also the title of the passage. To know more about Qian Xuesen, please read by yourself and find out the information below about him.

设计意图:通过表格分析,直观引出人物传记的写作内容

S1: Qian Xuesen passed away at the age of 98.

S2: He was born on Dec. 11, 1911.

S3: He was born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province.

S4: He graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He traveled across the Pacific Ocean to the United States for further study. There he received his Ph.D. degrees in both aerospace and mathematics.

T: From the table , we can learn when we write a biography(人物传记)general information about the person is important, what does it include?

Ss: Name, age, sex, birthday, birthplace, education and background.

The third time:

T: Well done. This time, read the passage as quickly as you can and underline the number of the year.

设计意图:通过列举时间,引出人物传记以时间为序,使文章脉络更清晰。

S4:In 1956, he set up the first research institute of rockets and missiles.

S5: In 2009, he passed away.

T: From it , we know big events are also important in writing a biography(人物传记). According to the passage, does the writer use the time order or space order?

Ss: Time order.

The fourth time:

T: Great. It’s time for intensive reading.(精读) . S1, please read Paragraph 1.Other students please answer the question What happened after Qian Xuesen graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University?

S2:He traveled to the USA for further study.

T: S3. please read Paragraph 2,other students think about the following questions:

1.Why did Qian Xuesen come back to his motherland from the USA?

2.What contributions did Qian Xuesen make to the development of aerospace in China?

S4:Because he loved his motherland.

S5:In 1956, he set up the first research institute of rockets and missiles. From then on, he was in charge of developing China’s missile, rocket and spacecraft research programs.

T: Read Paragraph 3 and find out two sentences that can express Qian Xuesen’s spirits and discuss what kind of person he is and what you can learn from him.

T: What kind of spirit can it show from Qian Xuesen’s word?

S9:He is a man who loves his career rather than money.

T: Qian Xuesen is such a great man that encourages teenagers a lot. Let’s look at a video and please remember the great person and great moment.

S1: I will study harder to make a contribution to our motherland like Qian Xuesen.

S2: I will love my motherland forever.

S3:I may not be as great as Qian Xuesen, but I can try my best to do work for our country in the future.

S4:We should focus on our career rather than money.

S5: If we teenagers are strong, our country will be strong.

T: Qian Xuesen is the pride of our country, at the same time ,you are the pride of me. Let’s sum up how to write a person
